No pri tem ni nič čudnega. Ko se segreva severna poloobla se Antarktika ohlaja in obratno. Ko se umika led na Arktiki se širi na Antarkitiki.
Gre za že zelo dolgo znan fenomen, ki se priročno uporablja za zavajanje neinformiranega ljudstva.
Npr; ko imamo leta z zmanjšano stopnjo poledenitve v Arktiki, so poročila polna novic o širjenju ledu na Antarktiki. In obratno.
Da gre za večdesetletne ali večstoletne ciklične pojave se seveda zamolči. Človeško življenje je itak prekratko, da bi ljudje to izkustveno zaznali.
