Contrary to New York Times, wind & solar won’t replace fossil fuels.Image

2/ Wind & solar power don’t help with 80% of our energy use.
They generate electricity.
But electricity is only 20% of our total energy use.

3/ 80% of our energy is for industry, transportation, agriculture & heating.
Wind & solar don’t help with these.

4/ Transportation & agriculture need energy that’s portable & concentrated
Liquid fuels are far more portable & concentrated than batteries.
It would take 500 tons of lithium-ion batteries to supply as much energy as 20 tons of jet fuel.
That’s 25X heavier! Image

5/ Wind & solar don’t fuel industrial processes.
Those processes need 24/7 energy & high temperature heat, which wind & solar can’t provide economically at scale.
You can’t make solar panels with solar power or wind turbines with wind power.

6/ Wind & solar don’t provide the essential ingredients for making clothing, housing, computers, phones, medical equipment, & millions of other products.
It’s fossil fuels that provide the feedstock (raw material) for making plastics and other chemicals.

7/ Wind & solar aren’t even the best option for generating electricity.
Nuclear & natural gas are more reliable, more affordable, and cleaner.

8/ Natural gas beats wind power on nearly every criterion.

9/ Don’t just take my word for it.

Germany has done more than any country to transition from fossil fuels to wind & solar.

Its Energy Transition Plan has been a colossal failure.

10/ Germany spent nearly $500 BILLION on wind & solar power.

But its dependence on fossil fuels only declined from 85% to 77% over the last 20 years. Image

11/ German households saw their energy bills DOUBLE over the last 16 years. Image

12/ The result: German CO2 emissions are nearly 10X more than France which relies on nuclear power.

13/ The disastrous effects of Germany’s plan have threatened the stability of Europe.

The collapse of German industry has the potential to drag the rest of Europe down with it.

Across the continent, bankruptcies are skyrocketing: Image

14/ Let’s promote clean energy the right way.
Let’s invest in reliable, affordable, clean electricity sources like nuclear & natural gas.
Let’s invest in tech to curb emissions from the fossil fuels needed for transport, agriculture, industry, & heating.
