Jeffrey Sachs o intelektualni podhranjenosti evropskih voditeljev

Kakorkoli to imenujete – “intelektualna neresnost” ali “intelektualna podhranjenost” – ima ta intelektualni deficit katastrofalno resne realne posledice. Ko v času krize, države vodijo nekompetentni politiki, iz tega sledi dizaster. To smo videli v času finančne krize in dolgega desetletja stagnacije kasneje.

One of the world’s most respected economists just said what millions are thinking — Europe is being run by intellectually unserious people driving the continent toward disaster.

Sachs didn’t mince words:

There is not a single major leader in the EU or Britain today with the stature, honesty, or strategic depth of past statesmen like Helmut Kohl, Helmut Schmidt, or Mitterrand.

Instead, Europe is now led by figures like:

  • Ursula von der Leyen
  • Kaja Kallas
  • Friedrich Merz
  • Emmanuel Macron

And Sachs’ verdict was brutal:

“Are you kidding?”

He said their thinking is incoherent, disconnected from reality, and dangerously reckless — especially when it comes to Russia.

While they talk endlessly about war, Sachs asked the obvious question:

If you are afraid of your neighbour… why don’t you pick up the phone and talk?

Instead, Europe has chosen:

  • Sanctions over diplomacy
  • Escalation over negotiation
  • Ideology over stability

Cutting off Russia.

Cutting off China.

Cutting off India.

Destroying its own energy, trade, and security.

Sachs warned that this isn’t leadership — it’s self-destruction.

Only a few governments, like Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic, are still acting with any realism.

The rest of Europe is sleepwalking into a wider war.

And the tragedy is this:

Europe once produced great statesmen.

Now it produces bureaucrats, ideologues, and slogan-repeaters — and the cost will be paid in blood, energy poverty, and geopolitical collapse.

This is what decline looks like.
