Nekdanji belgijski predsednik vlade Guy Verhofstadt je bil med najglasnejšimi politiki, ki so v medijih navijali za aktivno nadaljevanje vojne v Ukrajini, da se EU odreže od ruskega plina, da EU nabije carine na uvoz iz Kitajske, da EU pošilja (ameriško) orožje v Ukrajino itd. Z vsemi temi akcijami, za katere je Verhofstadt glasno navijal, je EU postala manj suverena, bolj navezana na ZDA in z manj manevrskega prostora. Do točke, ko EU nima nobenega manevrskega prostora več, saji ji ostanejo samo še ZDA. S čimer ZDA dobijo popolno moč nad v kot stisnjeno EU.

No, in ta isti Verhofstadt zdaj kriči, da gre za škandalozni trgovinski sporazum, za dizaster. Toda natanko to ti sledi, če slediš navijaškim mnenjem tega istega Verhofstadta.

YOU enthusiastically supported cutting Europe off from Russian gas, making yourself reliant on US energy, a big point of leverage Trump now uses.

YOU supported sending all Europe’s weapons to Ukraine, making yourself even more reliant on the US for your defence, a big point of leverage Trump now uses.

YOU are the ones imposing tariffs on China and generally moving to worsen relations with Beijing, making yourself even more reliant on trade with the US.

YOU keep removing your own leverage but then expect to get the same deals as if you still had it. CAKEISM at its most stupid.

In February, the Russian president said of European distaste for and conflict with President Trump: “Trump, with his character and persistence, will bring order there fairly quickly. And all of them—just watch, it will happen fast—will be sitting obediently at their master’s feet and sweetly wagging their tails.”

He was right. We all saw Princess Ursula Minor and Trump announce this deal. Sitting at her master’s feet, although thankfully not wagging her tail.
