Kar v besedah Grenella pomeni:
US ambassadors remind the German government of its lack of sovereignty:
“Germans must no longer live in the illusion of sovereignty.”
Text from the the communique:
Washington’s ambassador to Germany, Richard Grenell, caused a stir with an interview for the FNA news agency. There, he reminded Berlin’s rulers that “despite the Two Plus Four treaties, the Americans still have extensive powers in Germany,” that they would have to take a closer look at the United Nations’ enemy states clause and perhaps station an additional 200,000 troops in Germany if German politicians did not follow the instructions from Washington
Until now, attempts have always been made to “kindly remind Berlin’s rulers of their obligations to Washington.” Grenell himself, however, advocates the “direct approach, without beating around the bush,” because after all, this isn’t a wish list: “If the Americans say, ‘You’re not buying Russian gas, you’re buying American gas,’ then that’s what will be done. And if the Americans say, ‘You Germans are increasing the defense budget to 2% of economic output,’ then that’s not 1.23%. The Germans should no longer indulge in the illusion of being sovereign. Finally accept it: Germany is still a US protectorate!”
With absolute clarity, Grenell brought to light what experts had long suspected and the population had feared. Although Berlin’s rulers had always dismissed these connections as “conspiracy theories,” they now seem unable to give the US ambassador an appropriate response. In any case, political reality shows that such orders from Washington have actually been followed in the past, as can currently be seen in the demand for a 2% defense spending provision, which is being supported across party lines in the Bundestag. It is significant that the so-called “quality media” have so far concealed the exact content of this interview and reported only vaguely on the outrage it triggered
If the US President describes the often criminal legal behavior in connection with unhindered immigration to Germany as a “national security risk” for the US as well, this statement is likely to become particularly explosive given the aforementioned background. Perhaps, however, it is not such a bad thing, even if Washington’s regulations set the standard in this context… (eh)
