In to kljub ameriškim vojaškim bazam in jedrskemu orožju in navkljub gostovanju v ameriškem dolarskem finančnem sistemu in navkljub napovedanim ameriškim sankcijam. Ker so ocenile, da bodo imele več koristi od proste trgovine s Kitajsko kot pa od ameriške alternative protekcionizma.

Trump’s trade war just backfired. China, Japan, Korea, and ASEAN just issued a joint statement that politely declares independence from US economic dominance. You won’t believe what they agreed on in Milan. A thread you need to read.

The 28th ASEAN+3 Finance Ministers’ meeting just ended with a document that reads like Asia’s Declaration of Financial Sovereignty. Behind the jargon, it’s a united front against Trump’s tariffs and the weaponization of the dollar.

They call out “escalating protectionism” and declare their top priority is “long-term resilience.” Translation: we are done letting Washington hijack our economies.

The joint strategy? Trade more with each other. Build local currency bond markets. Expand the CMIM. That’s the Chiang Mai Initiative Multilateralisation, aka Asia’s homegrown alternative to the IMF.

Unlike the IMF, CMIM doesn’t come with US-imposed austerity or colonial lectures. It’s Asia’s own liquidity backstop. And now it’s being beefed up, with stronger surveillance and more firepower.

They also reaffirm support for RCEP, the world’s biggest trade pact. All signatories are in. The US is out. While Trump builds tariff walls, Asia is building a financial autobahn.

Let’s be clear. This isn’t just China flexing. Japan and Korea—longtime US allies—signed off too. Trump’s economic bullying has forged a coalition no one thought possible.

You thought the US could divide Asia to conquer it? Trump just unified Asia to isolate the US. With no bullets, no bombs, just tariffs and tantrums.

This is the stuff of State Department nightmares. A multipolar bloc where America is no longer central, no longer trusted, and no longer needed.

Asia is designing a post-dollar world. Local currency settlements, regional financial safety nets, internal trade flows. The Fed and Wall Street are being bypassed.

The US spent 70 years trying to prevent this. Then came Trump, who kicked the global table over and handed China the pen to write new rules.

You want irony? Trump torched TPP in 2017. Eight years later, RCEP is thriving and the dollar is being phased out of Asia’s core financial plumbing.

Trump came to kneecap China. Instead, he triggered China, Japan, Korea, and ASEAN to coalesce around financial independence from the US. That is a geopolitical miracle.

This is what real decoupling looks like. Not factories. Not semiconductors. But money, trust, and institutions. America is being de-risked out of Asia.

Bottom line: Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize. He did what no one else could. He unified Asia against the dollar, against Washington, and against American arrogance.
